Two players with the same name — how to tell them apart

Full MatchNew in 3.4

Every player row shows an avatar, nickname, batting hand, bowling style and a career stat line, so two players called Rohit are distinguishable at the moment you pick one. If they are actually the same person, merge them.

Picking the wrong same-name player does not just annoy you — it files the runs on the wrong career, permanently. So every picker gives you enough to choose correctly under pressure.

Player rows showing avatar, name, gender chip, batting hand and bowling style
Avatar, nickname, hand and style — enough to tell two Rohits apart mid-over.

What each row gives you

  • A photo, or initials on their own colour
  • Their nickname in quotes
  • RHB or LHB, and their bowling style
  • A career line — runs and strike rate in batter pickers, wickets and economy in the bowler picker

Give them a nickname

The single most effective fix. Two Rohits become “Chotu” and “Rohit bhai”, and search finds either instantly.

If the two entries are genuinely the same person, do not pick carefully — merge them, so the split career becomes one.

People also ask

How do I handle two players with the same name in a cricket team?

Give at least one of them a nickname, and rely on the batting hand and bowling style shown in every picker. If the two entries are actually the same person, merge them instead.

What happens if I pick the wrong player while scoring?

The runs land on the wrong career. Undo back to the ball and re-enter it — because stats are computed from deliveries, correcting the ball corrects the career.
