Scoring a match
Recording balls, extras, wickets, retirements and fixing mistakes.
How to retire a batter hurt (and bring them back later)
Tap the batter's name on the scoring screen, choose Retire hurt, then pick who comes in. It does not count as a wicket, their runs are kept, and they reappear in the batter list so you can send them back in later.
Retired hurt vs retired out vs timed out — what is the difference?
Retired hurt is not a wicket and the batter can return. Retired out is a wicket and they cannot. Timed out is a wicket for a batter who never made it to the crease in time.
How to replace an injured batter mid-innings
Tap the injured batter's name, choose Retire hurt, and pick a replacement from the list. The replacement starts on 0 and the injured batter keeps their score, ready to return if they recover.
How to change the bowler mid-over
Tap the refresh icon on the bowling bar. If no balls have been bowled this over it simply corrects your pick; once the over is under way, the replacement bowls only the balls that are left.
How to fix a scoring mistake — even after the match has ended
Tap Undo on the scoring screen to take back the last ball — repeatedly, if needed — and Redo to restore it. If the match has already finished, open the result screen and tap Fix scoring error to reopen it.
How to record a ball: runs, dots and boundaries
Tap the runs scored on the number pad — DOT, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 — then tap NEXT BALL to confirm. The score, over timeline and both batters' figures all update together.
How to score wides, no-balls, byes and leg-byes
Tap the extra (wd, nb, lb or b) in the EXTRAS row, add any runs that were also run, then confirm. Wides and no-balls are re-bowled and add a penalty run; byes and leg-byes are legal balls that count toward the over.
Can I score a no-ball with runs, or a wicket off a no-ball?
Yes. Tap the extra and the runs together before confirming, and the app splits them correctly. You can also arm WKT alongside an extra for a run-out off a wide or no-ball.
Every dismissal type in the app, and how to record it
Tap WKT, then NEXT BALL, and choose from bowled, caught, LBW, run out, stumped, hit wicket, obstructing the field or hit the ball twice. Retired hurt, retired out and timed out are recorded by tapping the batter's name instead.
How free hits work (and how to turn them off)
A no-ball puts the next delivery on a free hit, shown as a red FREE HIT banner across the over timeline. On it the batter can only be dismissed run out, obstructing the field or hit the ball twice. Turn on No free hits in Gully Rules to disable them.
What happens at the end of an over?
After six legal balls the app shows the over summary, swaps the strike automatically, and asks you to pick the next bowler. Whoever bowled the last over is greyed out, and anyone at their cap is marked Maxed.
The innings break and chasing a target
When the first innings ends, a full-screen break shows the total and the target. Tap Start next innings, pick the new openers and bowler, and the header switches from a projected score to runs required, balls left and the required rate.
Reading each batter's last six balls
Every batter card carries a strip of their last six balls, colour-coded by outcome. Tap the batter and then the strip to open their whole innings, grouped by over.
