What the newcomer can do
Everything anyone else can: bat when a wicket falls, bowl the next over, field. They join the batting order at the end and their whole appearance counts toward their career stats like any other match.
With Players can join mid-match on, every batter and bowler picker has an Add player button — add the latecomer to either team while the match is running, and they can bat or bowl straight away.
In Gully Rules, switch on Players can join mid-match. (Do this at setup — it can't be flipped once the match has started.)
At the next wicket, bowler change or fielder pick, tap Add player at the bottom of the picker. Fill in their name and they join the team on the spot.

Turn on the late-joiners rule at setup, then use the Add player button at the bottom of the next batter, bowler or fielder picker. They join the batting order at the end.
Yes. Everything they do after joining counts toward their career exactly like any other player.
