All the gully rules in the app — what each toggle does

Quick MatchFull Match

Open Gully Rules on the match setup screen. Full Match has nine toggles across Squad & Teams, Batting Format and Scoring; Quick Match has the three scoring rules. Turn on the ones your ground plays by.

Step by step

  1. 1

    Open Gully Rules during setup

On the Full Match setup screen, the Gully Rules card sits above the overs — tap Configure rules. In Quick Match, tap the Gully rules row. A count chip shows how many are on.

  2. 2

    Turn on your ground's rules

The sheet is grouped so the rule you want is easy to find. Everything is off by default — a match with no toggles plays standard cricket.

The full rulebook (Full Match)

  • Common player — one player bats and bowls for both sides.
  • Start with unequal teams — 7 v 8 is fine; each side is all out on its own squad size.
  • Players can join mid-match — add late arrivals to either team while the match is on.
  • Players can switch mid-match — move, swap or remove players who haven't batted or bowled yet.
  • Last man standing — the last batter bats alone instead of the innings ending a wicket early.
  • Single-side batting — one batter at a time, no non-striker, strike never rotates.
  • No runs for wides & no-balls — still re-bowled, but no penalty run.
  • No free hits — a no-ball doesn't award a free hit.
  • Change overs mid-match — adjust the total overs after the match has started.

What Quick Match gets

Quick Match's Gully rules sheet with its three toggles: no runs for wides and no-balls, no free hits, and change overs mid-match
Quick Match carries the three scoring rules — the squad-based rules need named players, so they are Full Match only.

The squad rules — common player, unequal teams, late joiners, mid-match switches, last man standing and single-side batting — all depend on knowing who is playing, so they live in Full Match. Quick Match keeps the three rules that only touch the scoring itself.

People also ask

What are the rules of gully cricket?

Gully cricket has no single rulebook — each ground agrees its own. Common ones include one-hand-one-bounce, out on the roof, a shared player when numbers are odd, unequal teams, and no penalty run for wides. Gully Crix lets you switch the scoring-relevant ones on per match.

Can you customise cricket rules in a scoring app?

In Gully Crix, yes. Nine rules cover squad size, batting format and scoring — unequal teams, common player, late joiners, mid-match switches, last man standing, single-side batting, no wide/no-ball runs, no free hits and mid-match over changes.

What is the difference between gully cricket and normal cricket?

Gully cricket is informal street or park cricket played with whoever turns up, usually with a tennis or tape ball, shorter overs, and house rules agreed on the spot rather than a fixed code.
